About the role
Art Technician
Location: Newham, East London
Contract: Long Term Contract / Fixed Term (depending on school requirements)
Hours: Term Time Only (plus additional days as required)
We are seeking a creative, organised, and enthusiastic Art Technician to join our successful secondary school in Newham.
This is an exciting opportunity to support a vibrant Art Department and play a key role in helping students develop their creativity and artistic skills. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure lessons are well-prepared, resources are readily available, and the department remains a safe and inspiring environment for learning.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, organise, and maintain materials, equipment, and resources for art lessons.
Support teachers with lesson preparation and practical classroom activities.
Maintain art studios, storage areas, and displays to a high standard.
Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
Ensure all equipment is used, maintained, and stored safely.
Support the installation of student artwork and exhibitions throughout the school.
Assist with health and safety procedures within the department.
Provide practical support to students during lessons when required.
About You
The successful candidate will:
Have a passion for art, creativity, and education.
Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
Have experience working with a variety of art materials and techniques.
Be able to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.
Have experience working in a school, college, or creative environment (desirable but not essential).
