The role

We're looking for a Service Designer to join a multidisciplinary team working on complex digital services.

You'll be responsible for understanding the end-to-end user experience, identifying pain points and opportunities, and designing services that work effectively for both users and the wider organisation.

What you'll be doing
  • Understand user needs and business requirements through collaboration with stakeholders and User Researchers.
  • Create service blueprints, user journeys and service maps to understand and improve end-to-end experiences.
  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Champion user-centred, inclusive and accessible design.
  • Work closely with Interaction Designers, User Researchers, Content Designers, Developers and other specialists.
  • Present your work and design rationale to clients and stakeholders.
  • Use evidence, data and user feedback to iterate and improve services.
  • Ensure designs align with established design systems, standards and patterns.
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience as a Service Designer or in a similar role.
  • Experience working with Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design.
  • Experience influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with design systems, libraries, style guides and established patterns.
  • Strong communication and workshop facilitation skills.
It would be great if you also have
  • Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Experience with HTML, Markdown, Nunjucks or other prototyping languages. xwzovoh
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior designers.
