About the role
We are seeking a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join our highly regarded Clinical Negligence team, working directly with Director Caron Heyes, in London.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a team with a national profile and known for its technical expertise and client-focused approach.
You will work closely with Caron and other lawyers in the wider team, gaining exposure to both claimant work and strategic litigation, while developing your technical and client-handling skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be working on a broad range of maximum value, complex and sensitive clinical negligence matters with a focus on birth injury, neonatal and paediatric claims. The work will encompass Court work, work with experts and counsel, client facing meetings, document work, business development and research. It will be stimulating and dynamic.
Responsibilities
- Liaising with clients and taking and preparing witness statements on issues of breach of duty, causation and quantum
- Supporting counsel and clients at court hearings
- Preparing court applications and supporting statements
- Attending case conferences with King's Counsel and/or senior counsel and expert witnesses and preparing notes
- Preparing approaches to Medical Experts, and drafting expert instructions
- Reviewing medical records and preparing medical chronologies for expert instructions
- Collaborating on the preparation of quantum schedules assessing multi-million-pound claims
- Attending round table settlement meetings
- Supporting and attending business development events
Experience and Knowledge
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (NQ level)
- Completion of a training seat in Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, or a closely related litigation area is required
- Strong academic background and excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- A genuine interest in clinical negligence work and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A proactive and commercially aware approach
