About the role

Job Title: HSE Officer (Permanent) Working Location: Cardiff Contract Type: Permanent Key Responsibilities: - Support the delivery of site Safety, Health, and Environmental systems and programmes - Conduct site audits, inspections, safety tours, and behavioural safety conversations - Manage ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 system requirements including audits and documentation - Support Process Safety Management activities including risk assessments, MOC, and PHA tasks - Lead and support contractor management, inductions, and competency checks - Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness training - Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and track corrective actions - Manage environmental compliance including permit requirements, waste legislation, and reporting - Maintain HSE systems and records including audit reports and corrective actions - Collect and analyse HSE metrics and report trends to drive improvement - Support emergency response arrangements, drills, and preparedness activities - Deputise for the SHE Manager when required Requirements: - NEBOSH General Certificate preferred; IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum with willingness to progress - Solid knowledge of UK Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and best practices - Practical understanding of risk assessment, COSHH, permit-to-work, LOTO, confined spaces, and working at height - Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems - Experience within a manufacturing, chemical, or industrial environment desirable - Experience conducting audits, inspections, and behavioural safety interactions - Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently at all levels - Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable navigating digital HSE platforms - Proactive, solutions-focused with a continuous improvement mindset Why This Role Stands Out: - Permanent role with real HSE ownership - Broad scope across safety, health, and environmental functions - Strong focus on behavioural safety and culture change - Involvement in Process Safety Management and ISO systems - Supportive team environment with development opportunities Work Schedule: Not specified Benefits: - Bonus - Pension This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced HSE professionals to make a meaningful impact on safety culture and environmental compliance within a dynamic industrial setting.
