About the role
A leading automotive organisation has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Test Technician – Engine to join its advanced engineering and testing facility in Dunton, UK. You will play a key role in supporting the development and validation of next-generation engine and transmission systems within a highly innovative and fast-paced environment.
This role will involve hands-on responsibility for supporting engine builds, test setups, and diagnostics, working closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality testing outcomes. You’ll contribute to global powertrain programmes, ensuring testing activities are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support engine and transmission build and test operations, including management of engine components and dyno dress kits
- Translate engineering requirements into practical work requests, including instrumentation, build, and teardown activities
- Coordinate the shipment of components to suppliers and external test sites
- Follow technical documentation including build books, drawings, sketches, and repair manuals
- Carry out vehicle modifications, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance
- Apply knowledge of chain drive systems, gears, and tension belts
- Operate hand and power tools, ensuring accurate torque application and adherence to specifications
- Identify and document lessons learned to support continuous improvement
- Operate vehicles safely, maintaining high safety standards and sound judgement
- Ensure all activities are completed with accurate documentation and aligned to project milestones and deliverables
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years of automotive experience, ideally within engine or transmission testing support
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills with a high level xwzovoh of attention to detail
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and tracking
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE or equivalent in engine repair/tuning) are advantageous
- Knowledge of engine systems, drivetrain components, and testing environments
- Full UK driving licence required
