Are you an ambitious Project Manager seeking a structured path into a secure, long-term permanent leadership role We are urgently seeking a dedicated Retrofit Project Manager to lead a major Wave 3 whole-house retrofit programme across Oxfordshire.
This position is explicitly offered on a Temp-to-Perm basis. It is designed to give you immediate operational ownership of a massive sustainability framework during an initial temporary period, leading directly to a permanent contract with a clear trajectory within our expanding green energy division.
THE TEMP-TO-PERM OPPORTUNITY
The Transition: A clear, structured pathway from an initial day rate to a permanent contract and salary package.
Initial Contract Rate: £350 – £410 per day (CIS / Dependent on payroll setup)
Converted Permanent Salary: £63,000 – £75,000 per annum + a comprehensive benefits package upon conversion.
The Scale: Immediate autonomy over a high-profile decarbonisation scheme covering an initial stock list of 500–800 properties—providing massive long-term job security.
LOCATION & WORKING PATTERN
Base Location: Initially office-based in Swindon for approximately 6 months to embed with the team, transitioning to an Oxfordshire office once localised property lists are finalised.
Site Commute: Site travel across Oxfordshire and surrounding areas, capped at a maximum of ~1 hour each way from your home base.
Flexibility: Regular office and site attendance is required to manage delivery teams, with allocated remote admin days for focused tracker and reporting work.
THE MISSION (End-to-End Delivery)
As our Project Manager, you will use the temporary contract period to successfully establish, streamline, and scale the Wave 3 delivery programme. You will manage high-volume monthly planning targets—including ~40 Solar PV installs, ~20 Air Source Heat Pump installs, and ~40 advanced ventilation installs, alongside fabric insulation, windows, and doors.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Governance: Take complete operational ownership of the whole-house retrofit scheme, driving multi-trade delivery to meet weekly and monthly property completion targets.
Commercial Control: Monitor multi-million pound budgets, track live costs, flag variances, and feed directly into cost control and forecasting reports.
Design & Engineering Review: Interpret and challenge architectural drawings and scope documents to ensure the correct energy-efficiency measures are executed per property.
Resource & Software Scheduling: Sequence works seamlessly across multiple specialist subcontractors using Excel and Asta Powerproject trackers.
Team Leadership: Manage on-site teams, including Site Managers and Resident Liaison Officers (RLOs), while leading recruitment and onboarding as the local delivery team expands.
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for client director-level escalations.
WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL CONVERSION
To successfully transition to the permanent staff structure, you must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
Sector Experience: A proven background in domestic Whole-House Retrofit, Renewables, or high-volume Planned Maintenance schemes (e.g., roofing, external wall insulation, green energy installations).
Commercial Acumen: Strong financial literacy with experience tracking project costs against a fixed master budget.
Technical Literacy: The ability to read construction drawings and confidently discuss design intent with architects and clients.
Software Skills: High proficiency in utilising heavy Excel trackers for live data management; familiarity with Asta Powerproject is highly advantageous.
Mobility: A full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle are mandatory for travel across the property patch.
