Quality Controller

Job Title: Quality Controller Salary: £29,900 Location: Holbeach Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time, Days Overview The Flavour Network is excited to be working with a well-established food processing business in Holbeach who are looking to appoint a Quality Controller to join their Technical/Quality team. This is a hands-on quality role within a fast-paced food environment, where you’ll play an important part in ensuring products meet customer and supermarket specifications at every stage of the process, from goods-in and storage through to production and dispatch. As the Quality Controller, you’ll need a good eye for detail, confidence in making decisions, and the ability to communicate quality issues effectively across production and technical teams. We're looking for a Quality Controller who is confident working in a fast-paced production environment and isn't afraid to make decisions about product quality. Key Responsibilities for the Quality Controller * Inspect and assess incoming, in-process and finished produce against customer specifications. * Check and record product quality, including weights, colour, defects and overall condition. * Take samples and complete accurate quality checks and records using paperwork, computer systems and/or scanners. * Monitor transport conditions and report any issues that may result in potential claims. * Identify quality issues and determine whether product requires re-sorting, rejection, ripening or further inspection. * Carry out additional quality checks and destructive testing where required. * Monitor product quality throughout the production process and track reject rates. * Maintain and report GMP and product quality standards within production. * Communicate quality and GMP issues to Team Leaders and line management and support production employees with correct procedures and requirements. * Check technical equipment and ensure probes and other equipment are appropriately calibrated and within specification. * Check label information to ensure compliance with customer requirements and specifications. * Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene and traceability. * Ensure documentation and management information is accurate and compliant with relevant standards, legislation and customer requirements. * Support the training of new and inexperienced team members in line with training plans and SOPs. * Report quality, health & safety and operational issues to the appropriate management team. * Contribute to continuous improvement in product quality. Requirements for the Quality Controller * Experience working within a quality, technical or production environment. * Good product knowledge and confidence in identifying and assessing defects. * The ability to make sound decisions regarding product quality and disposition. * Good communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence when required. * Good IT skills, including Excel and Word. * A flexible approach and the ability to work effectively under pressure. * A strong eye for detail and a methodical approach to record-keeping. * QA experience within food manufacturing or a similar fast-paced environment * Previous audit training would also be advantageous.
