Salary 46,142 - 51,356 per annum | Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week | Preston, County Hall/HybridAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Construction & Programming Team within Property Service.This is an exciting opportunity to lead the quantity surveying function across a diverse portfolio of construction projects that support communities throughout Lancashire. Representing the client, you will play a key role in delivering a 50m+ capital programme, investing in schools, libraries, museums, residential care facilities, office accommodation and other public buildings.Working within a multidisciplinary Property Service alongside Project Managers, Architects, Engineers, Building Surveyors, CDM professionals and external partners, you will help deliver high-quality construction projects through partnering frameworks and competitive tendering arrangements.What You Will DoIn this role, you will:Lead the quantity surveying discipline across multiple construction projects from inception through to completionManage project costs, budgets, procurement and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgetsProvide professional quantity surveying advice and guidance throughout the project lifecycleOversee contract administration activities and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and proceduresSupport the procurement and delivery of projects through partnering frameworks and competitive tendering processesWork collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including Architects, Engineers, Building Surveyors and Project ManagersEngage confidently with clients, contractors and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomesMonitor project performance, identify risks and implement appropriate mitigation measuresChallenge existing practices and contribute to continuous improvement across the serviceDeliver projects that provide social value and support Lancashire County Council's strategic objectivesAbout YouWe are looking for a proactive and organised professional who:Holds a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent professional experienceHas substantial experience delivering construction projects within a quantity surveying roleDemonstrates strong project leadership and organisational skillsHas experience managing project budgets, costs and procurement activitiesCan provide clear and authoritative professional advice at all levelsPossesses excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skillsWorks effectively within multidisciplinary teams and collaborative environmentsCan manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining quality and attention to detailUnderstands contract administration and construction industry best practiceIs committed to delivering excellent outcomes for clients and communitiesClosing Date:  23/08/2026                                       Why join us?By joining Lancashire County Council, you can shape the career path that is right for you, with opportunities to gain personal and professional qualifications, coaching, and mentoring.
