BUYER – CIVIL ENGINEERING / GROUNDWORKS Location: Folkestone, Kent THE OPPORTUNITY CPXR is recruiting for a Buyer to join an established civil engineering and groundworks subcontractor based in Folkestone. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer looking to take on greater responsibility within a busy procurement environment. You’ll be responsible for sourcing materials, managing suppliers and supporting the commercial and operational teams across a range of civil engineering projects. THE ROLE • Source and procure materials, plant and subcontract services • Obtain and negotiate competitive quotations from suppliers • Manage supplier relationships and maintain an effective supply chain • Place and manage purchase orders in line with project requirements • Monitor costs, lead times and material availability • Work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Estimators and Site Teams • Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering THE IDEAL CANDIDATE • Experience as a Buyer, Assistant Buyer or Procurement Buyer • Background within civil engineering, groundworks or construction • Experience procuring construction materials and subcontract services • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills • Commercially aware with excellent organisational skills • Confident communicating with suppliers and internal teams • Knowledge of construction procurement processes Candidates from groundworks, infrastructure, utilities or general construction backgrounds will also be considered.
