Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Salary: £55,000 (negotiable) + excellent benefits We're seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of bespoke vehicles and heavy-duty metal products.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership-taking concepts from design through to production while mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement.

You'll work closely with manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality, compliant designs that meet customer and regulatory requirements, particularly within Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and heavy engineering environments.

What You'll Be Doing Lead and deliver complex mechanical design projects from concept to manufacture Produce high-accuracy 3D models, drawings, cut lists, jigs, and technical documentation Carry out structural, stress, and tolerance calculations Work directly with the production floor to resolve design and build challenges Drive design improvements and manage design issue logs Select appropriate materials to meet performance and customer requirements Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, health & safety, and type approval standards Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional teams What We're Looking For 7+ years' experience in mechanical design within heavy engineering Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) Strong experience with SolidWorks xwzovoh and AutoCAD Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills Knowledge of type approval and manufacturing processes Highly organised, analytical, and confident working under pressure What's On Offer Salary £55k (negotiable) + overtime Pension & Life Assurance Health Cash Plan Early finish on Fridays Cycle to Work & Technology schemes High street, gym, and insurance discounts Long service awards, social events & on-site parking
