Job descriptionThis is an exciting opportunity to join Data Platform Services (DPS) working in the Project Delivery Team. This role is critical in ensuring successful project delivery across DPS by providing delivery oversight, monitoring progress and actively engaging in removing blockers and resolving issues promptly. Working closely with DPS POD leads, Delivery Leads and key Customer Stakeholders to maintain delivery standards and drive improvements across the DPS Project Delivery Lifecycle, fostering a culture of continuous improvements. With approximately 150 deliveries in flight at any time, we are looking for someone who is delivery focused, thrives in a fast-paced environment, stays ahead of challenges, and supports keeping projects on track.As an Agile Delivery Manager within DPS, you will support DPS teams to deliver high-quality digital services that fulfil business requirements and that are essential to the UK’s tax system. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a hands-on approach to delivery management. Person specificationAs a Senior Agile Delivery Manager, you will:Maintain oversight of project delivery across a wide portfolio, proactively monitoring delivery performance to drive clarity, transparency and accurate reporting through DPS Delivery Performance Dashboards.Operate and continuously improve governance framework, including DPS approval gates, weekly delivery reviews and full project lifecycle from initiation to close-down. Provide delivery assurance, working collaboratively with POD Leads and Delivery Leads, actively supporting (leading where necessary) recovery efforts when projects deviate from plan. Balance oversight on multiple deliveries across business lines, identifying interdependencies and promoting “build once use many” approach.Proactively identify risks, issues, and emerging trends across the delivery portfolio, providing clear guidance and actionable recommendations to mitigate or resolve them before they impact delivery.Define and implement DPS Delivery Standards and Project Delivery Lifecycle, in partnership with the Head of Project Delivery.Be comfortable negotiating and communicating within delivery teams and with stakeholders and be able to maintain and repair relationships. Collaborate with Data Portfolio to ensure stakeholders are kept informed on delivery progress and maximise closer working with CDIO groups and customers.Working with Head of Project Delivery to shape and deliver the project delivery roadmap and project dependency map. Coach and mentor multi-functional teams in Agile and delivery management practices, throughout the full product lifecycle. Managing stakeholders at all levels, including senior business and IT leaders,Exhibit excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.Commercial and supplier management demonstrating a clear focus on quality. Strategic leadership, planning and delivery of effective project reporting. We align to the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework, further information can be found here.Essential Criteria:Proven experience delivering medium-to-large, high-quality IT deliveries and/or digital products. Proven experience managing multiple teams to coordinate IT delivery, including external suppliers. Proven experience of end-to-end IT projects and Agile delivery management methodologies, tools and techniques. Proven experience balancing multiple priorities on large scale and high visibility projects. Experience developing delivery metrics and using them to good effect to show improvements in delivery performance. Experience coaching and mentoring individuals. Strong communication, leadership and team management skills. Proficient in JIRA and Confluence for delivery tracking and reporting. Desirable Criteria:Ideally you will also have experience of:Coaching and mentoring multi-disciplinary delivery teams and senior stakeholders across Digital Services, including in Agile.Building and leading Communities of Practice. Understanding and influencing in the full lifecycle of a service delivery.Commercial and supplier management experience.Finance management experience. You will be people focused but determined to improve processes, support teams, drive innovation, take the initiative and resolve blockers.
