Barker Munro Recruitment is working with a leading insurer expanding its Manchester branch. We’re seeking a Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter to drive new business growth across Mid‑Market and Mid‑Corporate risks.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the branch’s success—building broker relationships, leading large‑case management, and underwriting profitable new business while supporting and influencing the wider underwriting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the business on larger, complex Mid‑Market and Mid‑Corporate risks.
• Negotiate coverage, wordings and pricing alongside Trading Underwriters.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of quality new business opportunities.
• Lead the large‑case process and act as a referral point for the team.
• Develop strong broker relationships and deliver a clear distribution strategy.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong commercial underwriting expertise.
• Knowledge of the Manchester insurance market.
• Confident decision‑making across varied technical scenarios.
• Coaching, development and team‑influencing experience.
• Excellent trading, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong analytical and risk‑assessment capability.

Working Pattern

Hybrid working with around three days per week in the Manchester office or visiting brokers, attending industry events. Two days home working.
