About the role
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our award-winning family business based in Carlisle.
This role will be responsible for the delivery of a professional and high-quality QS service for all identified tender enquires and painting contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Manage project costs, budgets, and commercial performance across painting contracts.
Prepare and submit valuations, variations, final accounts, and applications for payment.
Monitor progress, re measure work as required, and ensure accurate capture of all variation values.
Liaise with clients to agree valuations, resolve issues, and support repeat business.
Attend handover meetings, communicate contract details to the delivery team, and advise on commercial risks.
Respond to payless notices and manage subcontract procurement where required.
Provide clear updates to the Commercial Manager and follow up commercial issues weekly.
Skills & Knowledge
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
Professional accreditation (or working towards), such as RICS.
Proven experience working with NEC contract s (non negotiable).
Strong Quantity Surveying background, ideally within painting or similar construction projects.
Solid understanding of commercial processes, including valuations, variations and cost control.
Ability to interpret and manage contract requirements effectively.
Confident communicator with strong client facing skills.
IT literate, with experience using commercial or estimating systems.
Professional manner and a proactive approach to building client relationships and supporting business development.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and procurement methods.
Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Excel and estimating tools.
