Accounts Assistant

Junior Accounts Assistant Location: North Shields About the Role: We are a well-established and growing accountancy practice based in North Shields, seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior experience in a small to medium-sized practice, looking to develop their skills further in a supportive and professional environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies Process and reconcile client bookkeeping records using software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements Support senior accountants with the preparation of management accounts Assist with monthly bank reconciliations, prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset schedules Liaise with clients to gather required documentation and resolve basic queries Maintain accurate and organised client files, both digitally and in physical format Ensure deadlines are met and work is completed in line with internal quality standards Candidate Requirements: 12 years experience in a similar role within a UK-based accountancy practice Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and year-end account preparation Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel Working knowledge of VAT and bookkeeping Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Good communication skills, both written and verbal A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn TPBN1_UKTJ
