Mechanical Design Engineer / BIM Technician
Location: Cookstown
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Hybrid working available)

A growing engineering and project delivery firm based in Cookstown is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer / BIM Technician to join their design team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-impact mechanical and infrastructure projects within the water and wastewater sectors, contributing from initial concept through to installation and commissioning.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Mechanical design of water/wastewater systems based on client specifications
- Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using Plant 3D
- Create and coordinate 3D models using Revit, Plant 3D, and other BIM tool
- Produce general arrangement drawings, elevations, sections, and fabrication details
- Prepare technical documentation, pump calculations, equipment schedules, and specifications
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to source equipment and services
- Support in compiling technical submissions for client review
- Attend and contribute to regular project design and site meetings
- Collaborate with internal disciplines (process, electrical, ICA engineers)
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental and health & safety procedures
- Be involved in full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning
What You'll Bring:
Essential:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar mechanical design role
- Proficient in 3D design software (e.g., Revit, Inventor, SolidWorks)
- Experience in fabrication design and working within a multidisciplinary team
- Innovative approach with strong attention to detail
Desirable:
- Experience with AEC/BIM tools such as Navisworks, Civils 3D, Plant 3D
- Previous exposure to water/wastewater or M&E infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with ISO19650 / BS1192 BIM standards
- Understanding of commercial aspects (quotations, estimates, equipment sourcing)
