Pertemps Isle of Wight is currently recruiting for a

Marine Mechanic / Marine Engineer

to join a leading marine engineering business based in East Cowes.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled and supportive team working on a variety of marine vessels and equipment. If you're a hands-on engineer or mechanic with strong mechanical skills and a passion for fault finding, repairs and maintenance, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Diagnosing mechanical and engineering faults on marine equipment and vessels.

Carrying out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.

Installing, removing and overhauling marine engines and associated systems.

Working on propulsion systems, steering, fuel, hydraulic and cooling systems.

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.

Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the highest quality standards.

Working collaboratively within a professional engineering team.

About You We're looking for candidates who have:

Previous experience as a Marine Mechanic, Marine Engineer, Mechanical Technician

or a similar hands-on mechanical role .

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Experience maintaining diesel engines, mechanical systems, vehicles, plant, machinery or other engineering equipment.

A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work through mechanical problems.

The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to health and safety.

Transferable skills are welcomed.

You could be a

Car Mechanic, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter, Agricultural Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Maintenance Engineer or have a military engineering background

and be looking for an opportunity to move into the marine industry.

Marine experience is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate — if you have strong mechanical skills and the right attitude, we encourage you to apply.

Monday to Thursday working pattern – enjoy a long weekend every week.
