Senior Support Worker - Residential Children's Home Location: Birmingham B11 Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour + £60 per sleep-in Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Rolling Rota) Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role We are currently recruiting for a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Senior Support Worker to join a Residential Children's Home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced care professional looking to take the next step in their career. You will play a key role in leading and supporting a dedicated staff team while helping young people thrive in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. As a Senior Support Worker, you will help promote positive outcomes, emotional resilience, independence, and personal development for the young people in our care. Key Responsibilities * Promote and model a positive, trauma-informed, and child-centred culture. * Lead, supervise, and support Workers to deliver outstanding care. * Create and maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment. * Support the development and review of care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments. * Provide direct support to young people with: * Daily living activities * Education and appointments * Recreational and therapeutic activities * Life skills and independence development * Build positive relationships with young people, families, social workers, schools, and external professionals. * Administer medication safely and maintain accurate records. * Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and ongoing training. * Ensure safeguarding procedures and residential childcare standards are adhered to at all times. * Act as a positive role model and advocate for the young people in your care. Essential Requirements/Qualifications * NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People, or equivalent (Mandatory) * Minimum 1 year’s experience working within a Residential Children's Home, preferably supporting young people with EBD or complex needs. Good understanding of: * Safeguarding * Behaviour management * ·Trauma-informed care * Residential childcare regulations * Excellent communication and report-writing skills. * Ability to remain calm, professional, and resilient in challenging situations.
