This is a hands-on role where every day makes a visible difference. Working as part of a close-knit collection team, you'll help deliver an essential household, commercial and recycling collection service across the Council District - whatever the weather.
What will you be doing?
As a Refuse Loader, you'll play an important role in keeping local communities clean and safe. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Collecting household, commercial, industrial and recyclable refuse from homes, shops, schools and other locations.
Handling a range of refuse containers, including sacks, wheelie bins and larger bins.
Working alongside the vehicle driver and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the collection vehicle.

Clearing spillages, loose refuse and litter arising from collection activities.
Reporting damaged or unemptied bins and any refuse disposal issues to the Team Leader.
Communicating courteously with members of the public about collection requirements.

You'll need to be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and dealing courteously and professionally with members of the public. A flexible approach is essential, as the service continues to evolve and the duties of the role may change to meet the needs of the organisation.
If you take pride in doing a job that genuinely matters to your local community, we'd love to hear from you.
Why this role matters
