Junior Quantity Surveyor

Commercial Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor Location: Surrey Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience Sector: Social Housing / Property Services Type: Permanent I’m working with an established property services contractor looking to add a Commercial Assistant, Junior Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS to its commercial team. This would suit somebody who already has some experience within social housing, property maintenance, repairs, voids or planned works and is looking to develop further within a commercial or quantity surveying career. It isn’t a traditional site heavy Quantity Surveyor position. The role is much more focused on the commercial management of day to day housing works, including Schedule of Rates, pricing, variations, subcontractor costs, applications and maintaining accurate commercial information across live contracts. As a Junior Commercial Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll work closely with both the commercial and operational teams, gaining exposure across the wider delivery process rather than sitting purely within an administrative function. What you’ll be doing Supporting the commercial management of social housing repairs, voids and planned works Working with Schedule of Rates and assisting with pricing and commercial updates Supporting quotations, variations and applications Monitoring subcontractor costs and payment information Maintaining commercial trackers, cost information and supporting documentation Working alongside operational teams to ensure works remain commercially controlled Liaising with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders Assisting with commercial reporting across live contracts Supporting the wider Quantity Surveying team as workload increases Who could this suit? You don’t need to be the finished article. The key thing is having some relevant exposure to social housing, property maintenance, responsive repairs, voids or planned works and understanding the commercial processes that sit behind delivery. Experience using Schedule of Rates / SORs would be particularly useful, as would exposure to subcontractor payments, valuations, applications, variations or commercial cost control. Why consider it?
