About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Under-Occupation Officer to join a busy Housing Needs and Assessments team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping residents access more suitable housing, making best use of available housing stock, and supporting under-occupying households to move into appropriately sized accommodation. You will work closely with tenants, housing partners, local authorities, and internal stakeholders to deliver effective housing solutions and improve outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities
Provide advice, guidance and practical support to under-occupying households looking to move to more suitable accommodation.
Manage a caseload of residents, undertaking assessments, home visits, risk assessments and support plans.
Promote housing mobility initiatives, including mutual exchanges and other rehousing schemes.
Organise and support promotional events, open days and outreach activities.
Liaise with housing associations, local authorities, landlords, contractors and support agencies to facilitate successful moves.
Maintain accurate case records, reports and service databases.
Respond to enquiries from residents, councillors, partner organisations and other stakeholders.
Assist in the development and implementation of housing initiatives, policies and procedures.
Monitor expenditure associated with the scheme and support project work as required.
Deliver presentations, briefings and reports to a range of audiences.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge of Housing Allocations processes and housing mobility schemes.
Experience working with members of the public in a customer-facing environment.
Understanding of working within budgetary constraints.
Experience managing a varied workload and meeting performance targets.
Essential Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Strong organisational and planning skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and external partners.
Problem-solving and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritise competing demands.
Flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities.
