Contract Duration: 6 Months
Hours Per Week: 36
Work Pattern: 2 days in the Office per week
About the role
* As a key member of the Communications Team, you will be dealing with both internal and external communications, including news articles, press engagement, social media, newsletters, the website and intranet.
* We especially need your experience with websites – writing for the web, editing and making content accessible.
The main purpose of the role:
* Working within the Policy and Performance service area you will be a key member of the Communications Team focussed on website communications but also supporting with media enquiries, press releases, social media and supporting teams by designing (we use Canva) and delivering communications campaigns.
Specific duties and responsibilities
* Writing web content and editing website to support the organisation
* Produce high-quality content and engaging communications for written and digital media.
* Support standards of accessibility, clarity and ensure brand identity
* Collate, write and edit news articles for our colleagues, Councillors and residents.
* Support internal and external communications campaigns.
* Maintain and update the intranet to ensure employees are kept up to date on latest news and information
* Support with the council’s communication response in an emergency
* Undertake any other duties determined by the Communications Manager and Policy & Performance Head of Service as appropriate to the post
Qualifications and education
* Educated to Level 5 or degree level or equivalent - Essential
* Evidence of continuous professional development - Desirable
Experience
* Using web editing software/content management systems
* Planning, promoting and implementing communications campaigns
* Experience of dealing with media - proactive and reactive
* Experience of developing and coordinating social media content and channels
* Experience of digital platforms such as Office 365 – word, powerpoint, xcel etc and Canva
* Working in Local Government and with Elected Members.

* Ability to work as part of a team
* Communications and presentation skills, written, verbal and digital
* Ability to work in a collaborative way, building and sustaining excellent working relationships
* Highly organised with the ability to deliver to deadlines to agreed outcomes.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
