About the role

This role is based at our Supported Living House in CH46, West Wirral. This role is NOT based at our Head Office in Birkenhead* SHIFTS Days, evenings, weekend availability, night availability for waking night support. To provide support to people who experience mental health issues and /or learning disabilities to lead full lives and to develop their skills and confidence so that they can offer their gifts and talents and make a difference. This will include a range of activities and duties over days/evenings and weekends. To promote good practice, through full participation and adherence to the organization's policies and procedures. To provide direct and practical help, care and support in the implementation of agreed packages of care which assist the service user in their daily lives, under the direction and supervision of senior staff. To assist individual service users to undertake a range of everyday living skills, appropriate to their level of functioning, in order to help the individual achieve a dignified and meaningful lifestyle. To assist in the implementation of assessment and support plans appropriate to service users needs and aspirations. To safeguard service users from harm/abuse and to report immediately any change in pattern of behaviour or other significant change. To undertake flexible working arrangements in accordance with the service users and service requirements (including weekends, evening and sleep-ins). To undertake/assist tenants in general cleaning and housekeeping duties, laundry, food preparation and cleaning up duties. To maintain confidentiality in all aspects of duties/service in accordance with the Wirral Mind policy on confidentiality. To order and assist with the administration of medication to service users as prescribed by the GP/Hospital, with strict adherence to Wirral Mind’s medication policy and procedure. To assist with personal care need of service users as necessary, observing Dignity and Privacy at all times. To support and enable service users to manage their budgets and to deal appropriately with any difficulties with budget management within strict adherence to Wirral Mind’s financial policy. To support and enable service users to access community resources and leisure activities. To liaise with housing providers as and when appropriate e.g. Housing Department, Social Services, Housing Associations and Voluntary Groups. To take part in activities that will strengthen the operational functions of the project, staff meetings, supervision, tenants meetings and review To participate in any training that may be considered necessary in developing the role. Strict adherence to all of Wirral Mind’s policies and procedures.
