As a Trainee Ruminant Nutritionist, you'll receive structured training and support while developing your technical and commercial knowledge. This role would suit a recent graduate or an on-farm salesperson looking to move into a more technical advisory position.

Working alongside experienced nutritionists, you'll support dairy, beef and sheep farmers, learning how to assess performance, formulate feeding recommendations and build trusted customer relationships.

The business has an excellent track record of training and developing graduates, offering a clear pathway to become a fully-fledged Ruminant Nutritionist.

Location: The territory will be tailored around the successful candidate, with an established customer ledger allocated accordingly. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals based in Aberdeenshire, Perthshire, Angus, Fife and Stirlingshire.

Role Overview

  • Support farming customers with nutritional advice and feed recommendations.
  • Assist nutritionists with on-farm visits across dairy, beef and sheep enterprises.
  • Learn how to formulate rations and analyse farm performance data.
  • Build strong relationships with customers through regular farm contact.
  • Identify opportunities to support customers with tailored feed solutions.
  • Work closely with production and technical teams to maintain feed quality standards.
  • Represent the business at agricultural events, shows and customer meetings.

About You

  • Strong agricultural background with a genuine passion for livestock production.
  • Basic understanding of ruminant nutrition gained through education, farming or industry experience.
  • Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science or a related discipline would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Agricultural sales experience would be highly desirable, particularly for someone looking to take a more technical career path.
  • Confident communicator with a willingness to learn and develop.
