SEN Teaching Assistant - Upminster, Essex Salary: £21,600-£25,200 per annum Contract: Full-time, Permanent Location: Upminster, Essex Start Date: ASAP / September Start Available About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist educational setting in Upminster. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives and who is committed to supporting students with additional learning, communication, social, emotional, or behavioural needs. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with special educational needs. Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities. Support students in developing communication, social interaction, and independence skills. Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing within the classroom. Encourage participation in lessons and wider school activities. Assist with monitoring, recording, and reporting on pupil progress. Support personal care needs where required. Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and staff members. Requirements Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable. Understanding of needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, health and social care, or psychology are advantageous but not essential. Benefits Competitive salary.
