We currently have an opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) at our Crisp Malt, Portgordon location. Offering a salary up to 48K plus call‑out payments.

Primary Objective

Reporting to the Maltings Manager, the Electrical Engineer carries out planned and reactive maintenance of all site and plant equipment to ensure the required levels of malt production are achieved, working in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), all trade‑related legislation and best practice. The position provides call‑out cover for out‑of‑hours breakdowns.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Contribute efficiency improvements around all areas of the site.
• Maintain a vigilant approach to your work, identifying and reporting any areas of interest to site management.
• Complete maintenance paperwork and computer entry in line with company procedures.
• Recommend improvements to the operation of equipment where appropriate.
• Contribute to the installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant where appropriate.
• Carry out basic mechanical repairs, particularly as part of on‑call rota.

Person Specification

• Electrical testing
• Electrical fault finding
• Ability to read a wiring diagram for control circuits
• Knowledge of electrical installation and inspection
• Excellent problem‑solving ability
• Self‑motivated and able to work under own initiative
• Quality awareness
• Ability to work well within a team and individually.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Recognised Apprenticeship/Engineering qualification with an industrial electrical bias (e.g., C&G 2360 Part 2, BTEC, HNC, NVQ equivalent).
• Demonstrable problem‑solving abilities and quality awareness.
• Confidence in using computer‑based maintenance systems and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of motors, inverter drives and soft‑start systems.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Experience working within a maltings with knowledge of DSEAR regulations.
• Experience with material handling systems such as bucket elevators, belt conveyors, screws and diverters.
• Demonstrable ability in mechanical testing, fault finding, installation and inspection.
• Familiarity with PLC systems.
• BS7671 Electrical Installations Course (latest edition).
• Experience with lifting equipment (LOLER).
