Technical Designer (Freelance) Rate (Apply online only) per day (DOE) Hours 9.00am - 6.00pm, Monday - Friday Location London EC1 Reporting to Head of Technical Design We are the UK's leading workplace design and build company , boasting over 30 years of experience and B Corp certification. Role Overview The freelance Technical Designer translates design concepts into coordinated, buildable, and compliant solutions. You will develop detailed technical drawings and documentation within our design & build framework, working independently or under senior leadership to deliver projects on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities Technical Packages: Create all technical drawing packages from schematics and design development through to construction documentation and practical completion. Design Coordination: Drive coordination between architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and public health disciplines. Design Delivery: Translate conceptual designs into buildable details without compromising design intent, budget, or programme. Compliance: Ensure all designs strictly comply with building codes, client specifications, CDM regulations, and the Building Safety Act. Site Support: Support onsite construction teams by managing RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and conducting site visits to resolve issues. Qualifications & Experience Essential Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related field. 2-5+ years of technical design experience, ideally within a fast-paced design & build environment. Proficiency in Revit, BIM coordination tools (e.g., Navisworks), and AutoCAD. Desirable Strong construction detailing knowledge, hand-sketching skills, and portfolio. Familiarity with sustainability certifications (LEED, WELL, BREEAM) and CDM 2015 regulations. Terms & Studio Perks Project-related training and development opportunities.
