We are a busy steel stockholding business based in Birmingham and are looking for an experienced Bandsaw Operator / Steel Warehouse Operative to join our warehouse team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with practical experience cutting steel or metal products, operating bandsaws safely, reading cutting lists and measurements, and working accurately in a busy warehouse environment.

The successful candidate must be reliable, safety-conscious, physically capable, and able to work as part of a team to help ensure customer orders are cut, prepared and dispatched on time.

Main duties

• 
  
• Operate bandsaw machinery to cut steel and metal products to customer requirements.

Read and follow cutting lists, order paperwork and measurements accurately.

Measure, mark and prepare steel sections before cutting.

Check cut sizes and quantities before passing work to the next stage.

Handle steel products safely and carefully.

Use forklift equipment where required, subject to valid licence and training.

Support loading, unloading, goods-in, goods-out and general warehouse duties when needed.

Keep the cutting area clean, organised and safe.

Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

Report machine issues, stock problems, damages or shortages to the supervisor.

Work with the warehouse team to help orders move through the business efficiently.

Essential requirements

• 
  
• Previous experience operating a bandsaw or cutting steel/metal products.

Forklift experience.

Able to read measurements, cutting lists and order paperwork accurately.

Comfortable working with steel, metals or heavy industrial products.

Good attention to detail and accuracy.

Physically capable of carrying out manual warehouse duties.

Reliable, punctual and able to work Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm.

Able to follow instructions and work safely.

Good teamwork and communication skills.

Desirable experience

• 
  
• Experience in a steel stockholding, metal processing, manufacturing, engineering or construction-materials environment.

Current forklift licence.

Experience using overhead cranes or other warehouse lifting equipment.

Experience preparing customer orders for dispatch.

Basic stock control or goods-in/goods-out experience.

Working arrangements

• 
  
• Full-time, permanent position.

Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm.

One hour unpaid break per day.

45 paid hours per week.

Salary £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Paid monthly.

Fully on-site at Birmingham B18 7AD.

Start date as soon as possible.
