About the role
Putney High School is seeking an inspiring and experienced Bassoon Teacher to join our vibrant Music Department, teaching pupils across both the Junior and Senior School.

The role currently offers one day of teaching per week, with scope to grow bassoon provision across the school. Visiting music teachers are paid directly by parents on a self-employed basis. Current rates are £36.50 per 40-minute Senior School lesson, £27.81 per 30-minute Junior School lesson, and £14.42 per shared Junior School lesson.
Music is central to life at Putney High, with a thriving programme of concerts, productions, orchestras and ensembles, supported by a talented team of visiting music teachers. The successful candidate will be a skilled and enthusiastic bassoon specialist, able to teach pupils across a wide range of abilities, including advanced musicians beyond Grade 8 standard.
Alongside preparing pupils for examinations and performances, you will build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues, helping to foster a lifelong enjoyment of music within a supportive and ambitious department.
We are looking for a qualified and engaging musician with strong instrumental teaching experience and a genuine enthusiasm for working with young people. You will bring excellent communication and organisational skills, a flexible and collaborative approach, and the ability to inspire confidence and musical curiosity in pupils of all ages and abilities. A relevant music qualification or equivalent professional experience is essential.
