🏥 Locum Consultant Psychiatrist – CAMHS Learning Disabilities
📍 Location: Avon & Wiltshire
📅 Contract: 3–6 months (with likely extension)

💷 Competitive hourly rate (negotiable, outside IR35)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established CAMHS Learning Disabilities team in the Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.

🔍 Role Overview:

You will be working within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing specialist psychiatric input for children and adolescents with moderate to severe learning disabilities and associated mental health needs. The service takes a holistic, family-centered approach and values collaborative working with social care, education, and community paediatrics.

🧠 Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and reviews
• Contribute to MDT care planning and risk management
• Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medication in line with NICE guidance
• Provide leadership and clinical guidance to the team
• Participate in case conferences and safeguarding meetings as appropriate
• Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to teaching if desired

📌 Requirements:

• Full GMC registration with specialist registration in Psychiatry (Learning Disability or CAMHS)
• Section 12 and Approved Clinician status (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience working with children with learning disabilities and complex neurodevelopmental disorders
• Excellent communication and leadership skills

🕐 Working Pattern:

• Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm (part-time or flexible options may be considered)
• 10 PA’s
