On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.About the Organisation: PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services. The Post: This role sits within the Data and Analytics function, supporting the development and delivery of national data services across NHS Scotland. The team operates at the core of data-driven delivery, working on the design, structure, and quality of data that underpins critical reporting, insights, and services.The postholder will work closely with technical colleagues, delivery teams, and stakeholders across health and social care to translate business needs into robust, scalable data solutions. This includes working with large and complex datasets, contributing to data modelling approaches, and supporting the development of data pipelines and logical data warehouse structures.The Technical Analyst plays a critical role in providing the foundations for data solution development. This includes documenting how data is sourced, how it flows through systems, and how it must be transformed, structured, and validated to meet business needs.The postholder will define and document data requirements, data mappings, and transformation logic, ensuring that development teams have clear, accurate, and implementable specifications to build robust data pipelines and data warehouse solutions.You will be involved across the full delivery lifecycle, from shaping requirements through to supporting implementation and validation, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams using Agile and DevOps approaches.The Candidate:We are looking for a skilled Technical Analyst with a strong foundation in both business and technical analysis, and a passion for working with data at scale.You will bring:Experience in business and technical analysis, including requirements elicitation, documentation, and validation The ability to translate business needs into clear, accurate technical specificationsExperience working with large, complex datasets, including data profiling and data quality assessmentA strong understanding of data structures, data warehousing concepts, and backend data processes Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including explaining complex information clearly Experience contributing across the full project lifecycle, working to plans, milestones, and delivery outcomes.It would be advantageous if you also have:Experience working with a Logical Data Warehouse and data modelling approaches Experience using SQL to query and interrogate data Experience working in data pipelines or backend data environments, rather than front-end analytics tools Experience of Agile or DevOps delivery approaches.You will also demonstrate:High levels of integrity, professionalism, and accountabilityExcellent attention to detail and a focus on data quality and accuracy Strong teamwork and the ability to share knowledge and support others The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure Location and Working Pattern:Currently hybrid working with bases in Glasgow or Edinburgh.Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK and have entitlement to work in the UK for the post in which you will be employed.Benefits: Ourbenefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
