Site Manager – Groundworks & Civils Location: Ashford, Kent Start Date: 5th October 2026 Duration: 35 weeks We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a major groundworks and civils project in Ashford, Kent, starting on 5th October for an initial 35-week contract. The project involves the development of a large open storage yard, including approximately 100,000m² of concrete hardstanding, extensive drainage and associated groundworks and civils. We are looking for a Site Manager with a strong groundworks/civils background who is confident managing site operations, subcontractors and health & safety on a large-scale project. Key Responsibilities Managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards. Supervising groundworks, civils, drainage and concrete works. Managing subcontractors and site teams. Coordinating daily activities, labour, plant and materials. Monitoring progress against programme and reporting to the Project Manager. Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with RAMS and health & safety requirements. Maintaining high standards of site organisation, quality and compliance. Liaising with engineers, subcontractors and the wider project team. Requirements Proven experience as a Site Manager within groundworks and/or civil engineering . Strong understanding of groundworks, drainage and concrete hardstanding. Experience managing large-scale external works projects. SMSTS – essential. First Aid at Work – essential. Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills. Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple site activities.
