Job Description

Humly is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant on behalf of a welcoming mainstream primary school in South Tyneside.

This role is situated within the school’s specialist SEN Unit—a well-resourced, inclusive provision designed to support pupils with additional needs within a primary setting.

You will be working on a 2:1 basis alongside another experienced support worker to provide full-time, individualised support for a Key Stage 2 (KS2) pupil with complex needs. This is a long-term temporary position offering stability, predictable hours, and the chance to make a lasting difference.

Key Responsibilities:

*

Work collaboratively as part of a 2:1 team to deliver tailored support for a KS2 child with complex needs.

*

Implement adapted learning activities and sensory plans created by the SENCo and class teacher.

*

Assist with personal care, mobility, and communication strategies throughout the school day.

*

Create a safe, calm, and structured environment that supports the pupil's emotional and educational development.

*

Build strong, professional relationships with school staff, therapists, and family members.

Requirements:

*

Proven experience supporting children or young adults with complex SEN (e.g., severe learning difficulties, severe autism, or physical needs).

*

Strong teamwork skills and the ability to partner effectively in a 2:1 support setup.

*

Outstanding patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude.

*

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent SEN/care experience).

*

An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to process one).

Benefits of Working via Humly:

*

Competitive Pay: £14.24 – £15.50 per hour, paid weekly via direct PAYE (no umbrella company fees).

*

Digital Convenience: Easily manage your schedule, timesheets, and assignments via the Humly app.

*

Supportive Environment: Work in a school community with ongoing guidance from an established SEN team.
