Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer an outstanding opportunity for a full time Locum Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Gastrointestinal Imaging to join the team of 19 Consultant Radiologists.

The successful applicant will also be required to participate in the general/cross-sectional reporting in the departments at Warrington and Halton Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

A full range of radiological services are available at WHHFT including Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT/MR, and Cardiac Catheter Suite. There are 4 multi-slice CT Scanners, 3 MRI Scanners, a gamma/SPECT camera and a comprehensive ultrasound and plain radiography service. WHH is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Radiology Collaborative On-call Network, with Carestream PACS and RIS systems installed. The collaboration enables on call CT reporting to be performed by the on-call hub, staffed by the trainees in the region with consultant addendum provided following checking the next morning to maintain safe standards. The Trust is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in association with the University of Liverpool and up to 8 Specialist trainees are attached to the department at a time. The Trust comprises two hospitals, Warrington (acute) and Halton (non-acute) with the latter consisting of 2 separate buildings on the campus: Captain Sir Tom Moore Building and the Nightingale Building. The Breast Care Centre resides in the Captain Sir Tom Moore Building, which is the most modern of all the Trust’s facilities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The postholder will work closely with the existing team of Radiologists to support the continued development and delivery of high-quality imaging services across Warrington and Halton Hospitals. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate competence across all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology, including the reporting of Plain Film, Ultrasound, CT and MRI examinations, together with appropriate . They will also contribute to the acute General Radiology workload, supporting the provision of a responsive and efficient service.

The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in Gastrointestinal (GI) Radiology and will contribute to the reporting of complex abdominal and pelvic CT and MRI examinations, gastrointestinal fluoroscopic studies where appropriate, and specialist gastrointestinal ultrasound examinations.

The postholder will actively participate in Upper GI, Lower GI, and Colorectal multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, working collaboratively with colleagues in Gastroenterology, Colorectal Surgery, Upper GI Surgery, Oncology, and Pathology to provide high-quality, patient-centred care and support timely clinical decision-making.

The successful applicant will also contribute to the ongoing development of the Gastrointestinal Radiology service through service improvement initiatives, clinical governance, audit and teaching. They will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance imaging pathways, improve patient outcomes and support the education and supervision of Radiology trainees, Radiographers and other healthcare professionals.

• FRCR (or equivalent)

• GMC registered Medical Practitioner [MBChB or equivalent]

Experience

• Wide range of clinical experience in General Radiology

Experience

• Appropriate sub‑specialist training in MSK Radiology
• General Intervention, such as drainages and biopsies

Skills

• Ability to work as part of a team with good communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Qualifications

• CCT or equivalent (Radiology) or be within six months of attaining CCT at the time of interview or entry on Specialist Register

Training

• In General Radiology, (CT, MR, Ultrasound, Plain Film and Fluoroscopy)
