Youth Mentor
Salary: £24,420 - £26,512.79 per annum

Top Marks Education is delighted to be supporting an established Alternative Education Provider in the recruitment of a dedicated and compassionate Youth Mentor.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in their personal, social and educational development within an alternative education setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping learners overcome barriers to education, develop confidence and resilience, and achieve positive outcomes through consistent mentoring, guidance and support.
The Role
As a Youth Mentor, you will work closely with young people who may be facing a range of challenges affecting their educational engagement and personal development. You will provide tailored support, positive role modelling and practical guidance to help learners achieve their potential.
The role requires patience, empathy, resilience and the ability to build strong and trusting relationships with young people, families and professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Support & Mentoring
Provide one-to-one mentoring tailored to individual learner needs, aspirations and goals.
Build positive and professional relationships with young people.
Support learners to overcome barriers to education and personal development.
Encourage positive behaviours, attendance and engagement in learning.
Act as a positive role model, promoting confidence, resilience and self-belief.
Personal Development
Deliver engaging personal development and educational activities.
Support the development of life skills, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Encourage learners to set goals and take ownership of their progress.
Promote positive decision-making and healthy relationships
Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor learner progress and identify areas requiring additional support.
Maintain accurate records, notes and learner documentation.
Contribute to reviews, support plans and progress meetings.
Share updates appropriately with colleagues and relevant stakeholders.
Partnership Working
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external agencies.
Support a joined-up approach to learner support and intervention.
Contribute positively to team meetings and organisational objectives.
Promote positive outcomes and progression opportunities for learners.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all learners.
Follow safeguarding, child protection and organisational policies at all times.
Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.
Support the wellbeing and welfare of young people across the provision.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
Strong mentoring, coaching and communication skills.
A good understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people.
The ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working within Alternative Provision, SEND or specialist educational settings.
Knowledge of behaviour support strategies.
Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and practice.
Experience supporting learners with additional needs.

Additional Requirements
Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
