MIG Welder (Solid Wire) – Peterlee Pay Rates * Day Shift: £19.55 per hour * Afternoon Shift: £23.46 per hour * Night Shift: £26.39 per hour * Overtime (Monday – Saturday): £29.33 per hour * Overtime (Sunday): £39.10 per hour The Role We are recruiting experienced MIG Welders for a leading manufacturing facility in Peterlee. Successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out high-quality MIG welding using solid wire on heavy fabrication and manufacturing projects, working to strict quality standards and tight tolerances. The role requires individuals who can confidently perform multi-pass welds and work from engineering drawings and welding procedures within a fast-paced production environment. Key Responsibilities * Carry out MIG welding using 1.2mm solid wire. * Perform multi-pass welds to required specifications. * Work on heavy fabrication and manufacturing assemblies. * Weld components using build and welding fixtures to tight tolerances. * Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding instructions. * Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and safety. * Complete work within production schedules and quality requirements. Candidate Requirements * Time-served Welder/Fabricator. * Minimum 3 years' welding experience. * Proven MIG welding experience using solid wire. * Previous experience within heavy fabrication or manufacturing environments. Weld Test Requirements Candidates will be required to successfully complete the following weld tests: Pre-Assessment * 8mm & 12mm Fillet Weld (approximately 500mm length) Practical Weld Tests * 2F 8mm Fillet Weld (200mm length) – Stop/Start required in the middle * 2F 10mm Fillet Weld (200mm length) – No Stop/Start required * 2F 8mm Tube Weld – Stop/Start permitted * 2F 6mm Boss Welds – Stop/Start permitted * 3F 12mm Vertical-Up Fillet Weld (200mm length) – Stop/Start 75mm down from top edge Benefits Subject to eligibility, company terms and benefit guidelines. * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays * Enhanced pension contribution scheme (company matched contributions up to 10%) * Caterpillar Share Ownership Scheme (50% company matched) * Monthly bonus scheme * On-site gym
