Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience is desirable but not essential).
Plan and teach a broad and balanced English curriculum, including literature, language, creative writing, and analytical skills.
Inspire confidence, creativity, and a love of reading and writing among students.
Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, theatre visits, creative writing competitions, and school events.
Encourage participation and inclusion for students of all abilities and backgrounds.
Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
Promote high standards of behaviour and create a positive learning atmosphere.
Work closely with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student progress and wellbeing.
Candidate Profile
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Previous experience teaching English at secondary level is preferred.
Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English education and literature.
Ability to engage and motivate students with a range of abilities and interests.
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities and school events.
Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Holds, or is willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and suitable professional references.
