Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time opportunity in a supportive mainstream primary school?
We are recruiting for a welcoming and highly regarded primary school in Gloucester, GL2, seeking a dedicated Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to join its specialist provision from September 2026 for the full academic year.
This specialist setting supports a small number of pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication needs, additional learning needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You'll work as part of a close-knit team, helping children thrive in a structured, nurturing environment.
The Role
As a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including Autism and communication needs.
* Assist with personalised learning plans and classroom activities.
* Support emotional regulation, positive behaviour strategies, and social development.
* Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in learning.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, and the wider specialist provision team.
* Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should:
* Have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, or Learning Support Assistant (essential).
* Demonstrate a good understanding of Autism, SEND, and SEMH needs.
* Be patient, resilient, proactive, and adaptable.
* Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Enjoy working as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
* Be passionate about helping children reach their full potential.
