What you’ll need to succeed:
- Proven experience in laboratory and workshop environments, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of equipment calibration, maintenance, and safety procedures (COSHH, risk assessments).
- Ability to assemble prototypes, work with PCBs, sensors, and mechanical components.
- Good organizational skills to manage stores, consumables, and asset tracking.
- Effective communication skills to report test results and maintain accurate documentation.
- Familiarity with mechanical testing, modelmaking equipment, and prototype assembly is advantageous.
Nice-to-have skills:
- Experience working within R&D in the agricultural, animal health, or related industries.
- Knowledge of electronics and PCB assembly processes.
- Prior experience managing external testing facilities.
- Understanding of waste management and environmental health and safety compliance.
Preferred education and experience:
- Formal degree not essential, but relevant experience in laboratory, mechanical, or electronics environments is highly valued.
- Previous experience in a research or prototyping setting is advantageous.
Other requirements:
- Ability to manage equipment calibration, store inventories, and work safely in an EHS-conscious environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small engineering team.
