Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established and highly regarded accountancy practice in South West London, which is looking to recruit an Audit & Accounts Senior to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who enjoys a varied role, with an even split between accounts and audit. You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients while developing your technical expertise and taking on increasing responsibility within the practice.
The Role
With approximately 50% of your time focused on accounts and 50% on audit, this is a varied role offering excellent exposure across both areas of practice.
You will work closely with Managers and Directors and will have responsibility for delivering high-quality work to a broad range of clients.
Your responsibilities as Audit & Accounts Senior will include:
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a variety of clients
- Preparing accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Supporting the preparation of management accounts
- Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
- Assisting with VAT and other compliance work
- Planning and carrying out audit assignments from start to completion
- Undertaking audit fieldwork and preparing detailed working papers
- Identifying and communicating audit issues and areas requiring further investigation
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
- Reviewing work prepared by more junior members of the team
- Supporting Managers and Directors with client assignments
- Managing your own portfolio of work and ensuring deadlines are met
- Building strong and trusted relationships with clients
About You
We are looking for an Audit & Accounts Senior with solid experience gained within a UK accountancy practice and a genuine interest in both audit and accounts.
You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in an audit and accounts role within practice
- Strong accounts preparation experience
- Experience of working on audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- A commercially astute approach, with the ability to understand clients' businesses and identify opportunities to add value
- Confident communication and client relationship skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
You will ideally be ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified, although candidates with strong relevant practice experience will also be considered.
