About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join a successful and growing international business. Working as part of a friendly and supportive Finance Team, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
This position offers excellent exposure to a broad range of finance activities and would suit an organised and detail-oriented individual looking to further develop their accounting career within a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Processing sales and purchase ledger transactions.
Reviewing supplier accounts and resolving queries in a timely manner.
Supporting month-end activities, including account reconciliations and financial analysis.
Assisting with accruals and prepayments.
Managing intercompany recharges, invoicing, and reconciliations.
Preparing supplier payment runs and recommending payments in line with company procedures.
Processing employee expense claims and following up on any discrepancies.
Administering company credit card accounts.
Preparing information for VAT returns and other financial reporting requirements.
Completing daily bank reconciliations.
Producing expenditure analysis and spend versus budget reports.
Assisting with customer invoice queries and credit note administration.
Supporting finance process improvements and system developments.
Providing general support to the wider Finance Team as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
* Previous experience within a finance or accounts role.
* Knowledge of accounting procedures and financial processes.
* Experience of ledger accounting, including purchase ledger, nominal ledger, and cash book activities.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with experience creating and manipulating spreadsheets.
* Excellent IT skills and confidence using accounting software and business systems.
* High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
* A proactive, self-motivated, and flexible approach to work.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* AAT qualification or working towards a finance qualification.
* Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or international business environment.
* French language skills.
* Exposure to VAT administration and intercompany accounting processes.
