We are delighted to be supporting an innovative UK engineering business in the search for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join its growing team. Our client is renowned for precision and delivery in complex mechanical handling and kinetic architecture systems, with projects spanning defence, aerospace, nuclear, sports & entertainment and infrastructure.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to move beyond traditional construction and take ownership of the commercial performance of some of the most technically challenging engineering projects in the UK. Working closely with project managers, engineers and clients, you will be the commercial voice on each project, from budget set-up through to final account.
Value engineering is a real focus of the role, giving you the chance to influence design decisions and directly shape project outcomes, not just report on them.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain comprehensive project budgets, tracking actual costs against budget and taking corrective action on variances.
* Forecast future costs and prepare clear cost reports for project stakeholders.
* Review and interpret contracts to ensure compliance with project specifications and budget.
* Manage contract variations, issuing change orders and negotiating pricing with clients.
* Administer contractual correspondence and ensure ongoing contractual compliance.
* Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities across the project lifecycle.
* Drive value engineering, analysing design alternatives to reduce cost without compromising quality.
* Work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure cost-effective delivery, communicating updates and issues early.
About You
The successful candidate will bring Quantity Surveying experience within an engineering, manufacturing or construction environment, with a confident understanding of contract administration and cost control. You will be analytical, commercially astute and comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Project Management or Engineering.
* Experience working with NEC, JCT and bespoke forms of contract.
* Understanding of construction and engineering practices, materials and industry standards.
* Strong analytical skills and proficiency with relevant cost and project management software.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What You'll Get
* Strong salary and benefits package
* Flexible start and finish times around core hours
* Salary sacrifice pension scheme
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service
* Holiday purchase scheme to buy up to 5 additional days
* Employee referral scheme
If you are a Quantity Surveyor looking to apply your commercial skills on complex, high-profile engineering projects, this could be an excellent opportunity for you
