Pastoral Support Worker - Secondary School
Location: Waltham Forest, East London
Daily Rate: £108 - £120 per day
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | Potential Permanent Opportunity
Start: Immediate Start Available
Accessible from: Leyton, Leytonstone, Chingford, Woodford, Wanstead, Redbridge, Newham, Hackney and surrounding East London areas.
Long Term Futures is currently seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused Pastoral Support Worker to join a vibrant secondary school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is committed to helping young people succeed by providing guidance, encouragement, and support with their social, emotional, and behavioural development.
Working as part of the school's wider pastoral team, you will play an important role in supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them overcome challenges that may impact their education and engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SEN staff, safeguarding leads, and families to ensure students are able to access learning and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Duties
Providing one-to-one and small-group pastoral support to students across the school.
Supporting pupils who may be experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, or attendance-related difficulties.
Acting as a positive role model and mentor to help students develop confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
Assisting with behaviour interventions and restorative approaches to promote positive conduct.
Encouraging improved attendance, punctuality, and engagement with school life.
Recording and monitoring student progress, welfare concerns, and behavioural outcomes.
Liaising with parents, carers, teaching staff, and external professionals where appropriate.
Delivering targeted mentoring programmes and intervention sessions.
Contributing to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school culture.
Candidate Requirements:
Previous experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, mentoring, pastoral, or support capacity.
Knowledge of the challenges facing secondary-aged students and strategies to support them effectively.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and staff.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach when managing challenging situations.
A genuine commitment to improving the well-being and educational experience of young people.
The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary support team.
An Enhanced DBS registered (Child Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
