About the role
Artisan Recruitment are working with an established marine engineering company to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Lead / Foreman to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled marine engineering professional looking for a hands-on role with responsibility for leading mechanical operations, supporting teams on site, and delivering high-quality work for clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all mechanical operations under the direction of the Line Manager.
* Maintain a 24/7 response mindset — when a client calls, respond promptly and professionally.
* Keep your mobile phone available at all reasonable times for operational requirements.
* Work overtime as required, including weekdays and weekends.
* Apply strong problem-solving skills and provide clear, practical solutions.
* Plan ahead for each job by identifying requirements, ordering materials where authorised, and keeping the Line Manager fully informed.
* Represent the mechanical department professionally and maintain a high standard of customer service at all times.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
* Support welding tasks and assist other departments when required.
* Act as the Line Manager’s right-hand support for all mechanical operations.
* Consistently go above and beyond in carrying out your duties and responsibilities.
* Communicate confidently and professionally with clients regarding completed work and ongoing tasks.
* Lead teams effectively, including mechanical crews and welding teams when assigned, acting as the main point of contact.
* Ensure all timesheets and administrative requirements are completed accurately and on time.
* Ensure every job is completed to the highest possible standard.
* Operational responsibilities and company requirements must take priority over personal extracurricular activities where reasonably required.
* Raise any underlying concerns, issues or operational matters with the Line Manager or Managing Director at the earliest opportunity.
* Complete clear, accurate and professional job reports for all relevant work undertaken.
