An exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Planner (P6) to join a high-profile major factory build and fit-out project in Sunderland. This role will see you working client-side, taking ownership of programme management across complex construction and operational scopes, ensuring delivery certainty under an NEC contract framework.
This is a contract position outside IR35, offering a competitive £450-500 per day, with a hybrid working model (3 days on site in Sunderland), with some further flexibility on this.
The Role
· Manage and maintain the existing Primavera P6 programme for large-scale build and fit-out works
· Coordinate and oversee the integrated master programme with the main contractor and key stakeholders
· Ensure alignment between construction activities and operational scope requirements
· Act as the programme focal point, providing challenge and assurance on contractor submissions
· Monitor and drive delivery against the 21 key Project Management Instructions (PMIs) to ensure on-time completion
· Lead programme reviews, progress validation, and performance reporting
· Identify, analyse and mitigate programme risks, delays, and dependencies
· Support the commercial team through programme input on compensation events
· Manage NEC contractual processes, including early warning notices and change control mechanisms
· Produce and assess what-if scenarios, recovery strategies, and mitigation plans
Essential Skills & Experience Required
· Strong expertise in Primavera P6 (planning, updating, and analysis)
· Proven experience on major construction projects, ideally factory builds, industrial, or large-scale fit-outs
· Demonstrable NEC contract experience, including early warnings and compensation events
· Experience working across both client and contractor environments
· Ability to manage and interrogate integrated programmes involving multiple stakeholders
· Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and operational integration
· Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills
Desirable Experience
· Background on complex or multi-disciplinary programmes (e.g., manufacturing, energy, infrastructure)
· Experience working with tier 1 main contractors
· Exposure to fast-track or highly regulated environments
Contract Details
· Location: Sunderland (3 days on site)
· Rate: £450- £500 per day
· IR35 Status: Outside IR35
· Duration: Initial 12 months.
