Fire Alarm Engineer - Wales & South West
My client is a leading provider of fire safety solutions, delivering expert services across fire detection, fire alarms, suppression systems, emergency lighting, and compliance. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join their successful and expanding team.
This is a home-based role, with engineers travelling directly to customer sites across Wales and the South West. A fully equipped company van is provided, and you will occasionally visit the company's warehouse to collect equipment, materials, and stock required for upcoming installations, servicing, and maintenance projects.
 
The Role
As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, emergency lighting, and nurse call systems across customer sites throughout Wales and the South West.
You will play a key role in ensuring systems remain fully operational, compliant with current fire safety legislation, and maintained to the highest industry standards.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Service, maintain, install, and commission fire alarm systems.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on fire alarm, emergency lighting, fire suppression, and nurse call systems.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with BS5839, BS5266, BS7671, and company quality procedures.
  • Commission and test systems to ensure compliance and operational reliability.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Conduct site surveys and identify opportunities for additional fire safety services.
  • Produce accurate reports and documentation using digital devices and reporting systems.
  • Plan and manage workloads effectively across your designated area.
  • Liaise with management, customers, and colleagues to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Support clients in maintaining compliance and reducing fire risk across their premises.
 What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer, Fire & Security Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems and industry regulations.
  • Experience with service, maintenance, fault finding, commissioning, and installation works.
  • Understanding of BS5839 and emergency lighting systems.
  • Good customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
