Senior Litigation Lawyer (Criminal)

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least two years’ post‑qualification experience in local government law, prosecutions, regulatory and general litigation to join our Legal Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Take a leading role in delivering high‑quality criminal and regulatory litigation for the Council.
• Manage a varied caseload and operate at a trusted senior level within the organisation.
• Represent the Council in courts and tribunals, advise Members and senior officers, and provide clear legal guidance.
• Support the Principal Lawyer and contribute to the development of the legal team.
• Play an active part in shaping a modern, flexible legal service that supports personal growth and long‑term career progression.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister.
• Solid litigation experience with the confidence to manage complex matters through to resolution.
• Proactive, organised, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
