Housing Compliance Officer
Kent | 12 Month Agency Contract (High Likelihood of Extension)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Compliance Officer to join a busy Local Authority Housing Service in Kent on an initial 12-month agency contract, with a strong possibility of extension.
This role has been created to support a well-established team through a period of staffing changes while maintaining service delivery and preventing housing enforcement backlogs over the coming months.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering a broad range of private sector housing enforcement and compliance functions, ensuring properties meet statutory standards and that residents are protected through effective enforcement action where required.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake HHSRS inspections and assessments
* Carry out HMO licensing inspections
* Investigate housing complaints, disrepair, and housing condition issues
* Serve statutory notices and progress enforcement cases
* Deal with statutory nuisance matters
* Enforce housing standards legislation and regulations
* Advise landlords, tenants, and stakeholders on compliance requirements
* Work in line with current electrical safety regulations
* Support enforcement activity relating to the Renters' Rights Act
* Maintain accurate records using the IDOX / IDOCS case management system
Requirements
✅ HHSRS trained and experienced
✅ Strong background in Private Sector Housing
✅ Experience carrying out HMO licensing inspections
✅ Knowledge of housing enforcement legislation and regulatory compliance
✅ Experience serving notices and undertaking enforcement action
✅ Familiarity with statutory nuisance investigations
✅ Previous Local Authority experience preferred
✅ Experience using IDOX / IDOCS systems would be advantageous
Contract Details
* Initial 12-month agency contract
* Potential structure of 6 months + 6 months
* Predominantly remote working
* Approximately 1-2 days per week undertaking inspections
* No regular office attendance required
* Mileage paid for inspections (currently proposed at 55p per mile, subject to confirmation)
* Immediate interview availability
