Assistant Finance Manager - Fixed Term 12 Month Contract

Contract: Fixed Term 12 Month Contract

Salary: £40,000–£45,000, depending on experience and qualifications

We are recruiting an Assistant Finance Manager to join a well-established business based in Crawley.

This is a hands-on, varied role supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function. You will take ownership of key month-end, reporting and financial-control activities, while working closely with finance leadership and colleagues across the wider business.

It is a great opportunity for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager, Management Accountant or strong Senior Finance Assistant looking for broader responsibility.

The role

• Support and coordinate month-end close activities
• Prepare management accounts, reporting packs and variance analysis
• Review journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Maintain strong balance-sheet control and investigate outstanding items
• Monitor inventory, receivables and payables, helping to improve working-capital performance
• Support cash management and identify potential risks or opportunities
• Assist with group reporting, audit preparation and statutory compliance activity
• Provide day-to-day support and guidance to a Finance Assistant
• Work with commercial and operational teams to provide accurate financial information and insight
• Support process improvements, finance projects and ad-hoc analysis

About you

• AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience
• Strong experience in management accounts, month-end and financial control
• Confident with balance-sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
• Commercially minded, organised and comfortable managing competing priorities
• A clear communicator who can build effective relationships across finance, operations and commercial teams
• Proactive, accurate and happy to get stuck into the detail
