SEN Tribunal and Mediation Officer

We are currently working with a West Yorkshire Local Authority who are seeking a SEND Tribunal and Mediation Officer to manage complex cases involving special educational needs and disabilities. This pivotal role requires a candidate with robust experience in SEND casework, deep knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and the processes involved in mediation and SEND Tribunals.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a requirement to attend meetings when necessary.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Manage complex Tribunal and mediation cases involving special educational needs and disabilities.
• Prepare comprehensive evidence and documentation for cases.
• Liaise effectively with families, schools, and legal representatives to ensure a collaborative approach.
• Work within statutory timescales, ensuring all legal and procedural requirements are met efficiently.
• Implement and oversee the mediation process, aiming to resolve disputes before they escalate to Tribunal.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Significant experience in managing Tribunal and mediation processes.
• Strong understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
