About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised HR Generalist to join their team on a part-time basis, working up to 28 hours per week, to provide maternity cover. Salary £40,000 pro rata.
This is a hands-on, operational HR role offering the opportunity to support employees and line managers across the full employee lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining effective day-to-day HR operations throughout the maternity cover period, ensuring managers and employees receive a consistent, responsive and practical HR service. As HR Generalist, you will work closely with employees, line managers and senior stakeholders, providing timely and accurate HR support in line with company policies and procedures. You will take responsibility for a broad range of generalist HR activities, helping to ensure that all day-to-day HR processes continue to run smoothly and efficiently. This role will involve working across two locations, so flexibility and the ability to travel between sites will be required. Hybrid working is also available, offering flexibility to balance time between the office and home, in line with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries, providing practical support and guidance to employees and line managers.
Manage recruitment and onboarding activity, including job adverts, offers, pre-employment checks and new starter arrangements.
Support line managers with probation, absence management, performance and other routine employee relations matters.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, HR systems and documentation.
Prepare HR letters, contracts, changes to terms and conditions, and other HR-related correspondence.
Support annual pay reviews, bonus administration and HR benchmarking activities.
Prepare HR reports and management information for senior stakeholders.
Support the smooth and efficient delivery of day-to-day HR processes and undertake other reasonable HR duties as required.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a generalist HR role.
A good working knowledge of HR processes and the full employee lifecycle.
Strong HR administration and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
Strong time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines.
Good problem-solving abilities and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Confidence in using HR systems, ideally including BambooHR, as well as Microsoft Excel.
